The idiotic mistake that GUARANTEES your loss in the SEO Game

Technology allows me to put up one, or thousands of websites in a matter of days. As a programmer, it’s very easy to visualize such a concept. But would it work the way I want it to? You might get a few traffic, but don’t expect yourself to be the next big thing.

When creating websites, the primary priority of practically everyone is SEO. Will Google like my website? Will I get top ranking for my foolish keyword? No one ever focuses much of their attention on content!

A single satisfied visitor can in turn bring in a lot more…

This is true. How many times have you followed links to blogs/blog posts or even websites from another website/blog? Bloggers especially, recommend cool stuff to their visitors if there exists one. And there is no reason why that cool stuff can’t be created by you! I’d like to clarify what I mean by “Cool”, but that’d take up an entire blog post. Keep checkin’ back for it though, I might just post it in a few days.

Even in forums, you can see people recommending others’ stuff like crazy, if it is really good.

“Hey! Where can I find some good info on XYZ?”
“XYZ_SITE.COM seems to be a good resource…”

Have you ever seen conversations like above in chat messages, forums or what not? That’s the power each individual holds, and the way to levarage it is to give the person what he wants, rather than chasing the search engines.

What Google actually wants… REVEALED!

A bold statement, eh? It’s nothing new, but most of the webmasters (should we even call them that?) don’t realize this. Google wants to give searches the best possible resource for their searches. And the more you help Google do that, the more it’ll help you.

Look at all the high ranking webpages, what do they have in common? They all give the users what they want. ONLY AFTER DOING THIS, they modify content and stuff to make it easier for search engines (say Google) to know what their site is all about. And all of this is available on Google’s own help system, why fruitlessly search everywhere else?

So the Fundamental Law is…..

….Users first, SEO second and your list goes on. I’m not telling you to neglect SEO. But the higher priority are your users. The efforts of satisfied users can bring you more traffic from SE and other sources than what you could do on your own in your entire lifetime.
